So you can't control the CPU directly but it did slow it down. Hit apply and it slowed the CPU fan down to 1200-1600 rpm instead of 4000 or so. I set it to 70-80% on 35-50 degrees, on cpu temp.

"What are your Core Temps?" - Degrees in Celsius: cpu idle 25-32, load 32-64, gpu idle 23-32, load 42-67 "So, which fan runs on 100% speed?" - CPU If just a fan-cooler, I think it can barely handle an i7." - only enabled in bios did not set new timing on cpu or ram "First thing I would do it return all to stock-clocks (turn-off Over-Clocking). "Fan Cooler or Liquid-Cooler (pick one)" - Fan Cooler I normally build my own PCs but seeing as though I haven't built one since the 1st gen i7s I decided to go this route. I never actually overclocked the system I just enabled it in bios without setting new parameters or running an overclock calibrator/or cpu test (not sure what its called with alienware). I took the side cover off because after searching online for explanations some would say it was power supply fan that was on high. When I went to flash bios it was the same numbers so I cancelled.

I checked my system drivers and support page and it listed the same bios that I currently am running. Since when can you control either the CPU fan or radiator-fan in Thermal Controller? If just a fan-cooler, I think it can barely handle an i7. One thing someone reported was that Over-Clocking has apparently been removed from the latest Aurora-R5 BIOS, so maybe that's the deal.įirst thing I would do it return all to stock-clocks (turn-off Over-Clocking). Not sure why it didn't work for Geeker82.
So, you have an Aurora-R5, that came as base model with i3, but after upgrading to i7-6700k, you can now Over-Clock it.

I'm able to adjust to manual in acc but it doesn't save the settings after restart. The swapped worked and I was able to unlock overclock with both settings but fan is stuck on high.
I had another Dell system XPS 8900 with a 6700k and swapped it. I too bought a base outlet model but it came with the 850 power supply and dual 1070 setup but it only had an i3 processor. Well I finally got my system fixed today with onsite support. I am having an issue with the stock cpu fan being on 100%.
